The PRINCE2-Foundation certification exam tests the candidate’s understanding of the PRINCE2 principles, themes, and processes, and their ability to apply that knowledge in a given scenario. The exam typically covers topics such as the PRINCE2 principles (Continued Business Justification, Learn from Experience, Defined Roles and Responsibilities, Manage by Stages, Manage by Exception, Tailor to Suit the Project Environment), the PRINCE2 themes (Business Case, Organization, Quality, Plans, Risk, Change, Progress) and PRINCE2 processes (Starting up a Project, Directing a Project, Initiating a Project, Controlling a Stage, Managing Product Delivery, Managing a Stage Boundary, Closing a Project).

The PRINCE2-Foundation exam is a multiple-choice exam, with 75 questions to be answered in 1 hour. The pass mark is 50% (38 out of 75 questions) and it is possible to take the exam in several languages.
