What you’ll learn

  • Here you can learn about IP Switching, Process Switching, Fast and CEF Switching.
  • You will learn about MPLS unicast, LDP, TDP, MPLS VPN, RD, RT. Folks able to understand how does router handle and process normal IP Packet and label packet.
  • Here you will also understand why Service provider does not need to run BGP protocol inside the core router.
  • Once you finish the course, you will get to know that, how customer sites are connected to each other with the help of MPLS.

MPLS :Multiprotocol Label Switching is a routing technique in telecommunications networks that directs data from one node to the next based on labels rather than network addresses.

LDP: LDP is a protocol that automatically generates and exchanges labels between routers.

RD : A route distinguisher is an address qualifier used only within a single internet service provider ‘s Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network. It is used to distinguish the distinct virtual private network (VPN) routes of separate customers who connect to the provider.

RT : The Route Target is a 64 bit BGP community used to tag prefixes. It tells the PE routers which prefixes it can import

MPLS VPN :MPLS VPN is a family of methods for using multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) to create virtual private networks (VPNs). MPLS VPN is a flexible method to transport and route several types of network traffic using an MPLS backbone.

TTL Propagation :When TTL propagation is enabled, MPLS copies the IP TTL to the label TTL for packets entering the MPLS network, and copies the label TTL to the IP TTL for packets leaving the MPLS network. If you enable TTL propagation on both the ingress and egress, the IP tracert facility can show the real path in the MPLS network.
