In this tutorial I will show and tell about a palette knife technique on the example of this landscape. The palette knife is a very modern tool which gets more and more popular.
It can not be washed, but only wiped with a napkin. You don’t have to use thinners, because the consistency of the tube paint is just what we need for painting with a palette knife.
The paintings turn out with an interesting texture of the thick oil paint.
In this landscape, I want to show how to create a poppy field using a palette knife. The purpose of the lesson is to learn how to create a background, adjust volumetric strokes, manage thin lines.
I would like you to not just repeat this landscape, but try to create something of your own based on this lesson, using a photo from the Internet or using these examples. The main task is to simplify the color planes from the photo’s to make the composition solid.
You will need : a palette knife, stretched canvas 12 x 16 in ( 30 x 40 cm) oil paints, tear -off palettes, napkin.
Who this course is for:
- Beginner oil paintiers
