Welcome to Blues Guitar By Yourself! As a guitarist and instructor for over 20 years, one of the comments I hear the most is…”I just want to sit down and play Blues Rhythm by MYSELF!
What students usually mean is that they want to pick up their guitar and play a 12 Bar Blues that isn’t repetitious and boring but, actually FUN! This is exactly the reason I created this course. I put together 30 lessons with various styles, chords and riffs to expand your Blues playing like never before.
Most guitar courses are aimed at a players skill level. This course has something for the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced player. The really special part of this course is that all of the examples are very usable and sound great when it’s just you and your guitar!
I’ll devote plenty of time to Dominant 7th and 9th chords as they are the cornerstone of good Blues Rhythm playing. However, I’ll really focus on how to use them in a “song fashion” to create cool grooves you can play on your own. I’ll introduce a number of different ways to play them as well. I’m sure there are many shapes here you haven’t encountered!
We’ll take those shapes and move them into a “Intro to Jazz Blues” section where we’ll learn basic 2-5-1 turnarounds and how to embellish the 12 bar blues! Then, move on to a killer Blues Rock section loaded with Power Chords and riffs. This may be my favorite section of the course!
I devoted another section to what I call “expensive” chords to further expand your knowledge of the 12 bar and of course, how to sound interesting BY YOURSELF!
I’ve even covered Blues Turnarounds too! I love teaching and playing these as the options are limitless!
Of course all assets like TABs, PDFs, and Backing tracks are included and, you can comment and ask questions in the Udemy interface as well.
