This course is intended to get you playing tremolo and having fun with it, perhaps trying it out on songs you already know and seeing what you can do to put your personal spin on them.
We will cover:
· What tremolo is and how to play it – including some plectrum tips
· How to read music in the form of tab (also known as tablature)
· How to read rhythms, using mnemonics (words) to unlock them
· How to play five songs, including The Water Is Wide and Amazing Grace.
By the end of this course you should be able to play at least one tune with tremolo that you feel proud of and it is my intention that you will feel like you have all the tools necessary to develop your skills on the mandolin further.
There is an extension song included where we play a song already tackled but in a different way and I feel that this lecture in particular should give you ideas on how you can apply your learning to other songs you may already know.
To conclude, I know tremolo can be daunting but the most important thing you can do when practicing is relax. Everyone’s journey is different and this is a skill that takes time and the more relaxed you are while you’re practicing, the better it will sound.
