· This course deals with the composition, classification and function of human skeletal system in a very easily understandable manner.

  • The human skeletal system is the body system that provides the internal framework for the human body. In adults, the skeletal system contains 206 bones.

  • It is the combination of all the bones and tissues associated with cartilages and joints. Almost all the rigid or solid parts of the body are the main components of the skeletal system.

  • Bones are organs made up of dense connective tissues, mainly the hard collagen protein. Bones also contain blood vessels, nerves, and other tissues. Bones are hard and rigid due to the deposits of calcium and other mineral salts in their living tissues. In addition to bones, the skeletal system includes cartilage and ligaments

  • The skeleton is traditionally divided into two main parts: the axial skeleton, which includes the skull, the vertebral column and the rib cage; and the appendicular skeleton, which includes the appendages and belts that attach them to the axial skeleton.

  • The skeletal system has many different functions, including supporting the body and shaping it, protecting internal organs, providing attachment surfaces for skeletal muscles, enabling body movement, producing blood cells, storing minerals, helping to maintain mineral homeostasis and produce endocrine hormones.

  • This free online human anatomy course will be of great interest to all healthcare professionals who would like to learn more about the human skeletal system and its biological functions, as it gives a very nice audio-visual information to the audience.
