My name is Teacher Hanya. I am a native English speaker and I have 15 years primary teaching experience in UK schools and have a TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) qualification. I have a BSc (Hons) Psychology and Communication degree with major modules in linguistics and phonetics. I have a passion for teaching children and English and phonics specifically.
On this course you will be guided step by step through easy access short videos explaining simple through to more complex sounds used in the English language and how to pronounce sounds correctly.
You will become familiar with blending sounds you have learned and how to use more complex sounds too.
Each video concentrates on the mouth shape needed for each sound.
This course is suitable for both children needing extra help with phonic sounds or students where English is an additional language.

The course has been designed to be easy to follow with quick 3 minute videos:
Lecture 1 Introduction and contents of the course and an introduction to who I am.
Lecture 2 Set 1 Simple speed sounds – single sounds and simple digraphs
Lecture 3 Blending single sounds into words
Blending 2 letters one sound into words
Lecture 4 Set 2 sounds – digraphs (two letters which make one sound)
Lecture 5 Set 3 sounds – more complex sounds in the English language
Lecture 6 Syllables – how words can be split into more manageable chunks known as syllables
Lecture 7 Tricky sight words – words which cannot be decoded using phonic sounds.
