This psychology training course provides the basic counseling skills required to treat patients who are processing trauma and explains how to deal with PTSD.
Catastrophic events can cause post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), significantly impacting individuals’ emotional and mental functioning, and are a universal concern for healthcare systems. We therefore created this trauma processing course to give mental health professionals and other clinicians the knowledge and skills they need to help patients and clients identify and process traumatic experiences that negatively impact their lives.
What You Will Learn In This Free Course
Trauma Processing and Prevention
In this module, you will learn the history of trauma processing, types of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and treatment approaches as well as adverse life events and their association with PTSD. Learn about dissociation and the psychological effect of adverse life events.
Theoretical Approaches to Trauma Processing
In this module, you will be introduced to the triune Brain Model and its application to cognitive interactions, you will learn the processes involved in the treatment of trauma using the three-stage consensus model, and you will also learn about addiction comorbidity and effective strategies for addressing PTSD/Addiction dual diagnosis.
