In this module, you will learn about synthetic biology, catalytic antibodies and how they can be designed to be used to catalyze different organic reactions. You will also be introduced to basic concepts about the structure of nucleic acid, deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA), how DNA can be synthesized chemically, the central dogma in biology and the DNA sequencing method.
Molecular Biology and Chemistry of Cofactors/Coenzymes
In this module, you will learn about the gene cloning technique utilizing recombinant DNA technology, and an in vitro method to amplify a piece of DNA by PCR. You will also be introduced to the different vitamins of the coenzyme and their coenzyme form, chemistry of cofactors and coenzymes. You will learn about the formation of acetyl coenzyme A and the action of a metal ion as a cofactor.
