Knitting is calming, creative, and easy! It’s even more enjoyable when you stitch along with your kids. In this kids’ beginner class, Kristy Glass and her daughter, Olive, show you how to start knitting and make your first project, a magic “pouch of possibilities.” From casting on to binding off, they’ll guide you step by step — and have a few laughs along the way.

Casting On

All knitting projects start with a simple knot and a row of stitches; this is called casting on. With BIG NEEDLES to help demonstrate each step, Kristy helps you start your pouch off with bang.

The Knit Stitch

Keep it simple as Kristy and Olive show you how to knit using the easiest stitch, the knit stitch. After learning to cast on, find out how to keep stitching your pouch until it’s big enough to hold your most cherished treasures! Plus get tips for troubleshooting problems like a pro.

Bind Off & Weaving In Ends

Once your pouch is large enough, it’s time to stop stitching and bind off (a fancy word for finishing and making sure your stitches don’t come undone).

Seaming

Now it’s time to construct the pouch by folding it and seaming up the sides. In this easy-to-follow lesson, our mother-daughter duo show you how to successfully close up each side of your newly-folded pouch so nothing falls out.

Embellishments

The pouch of possibilities is almost complete! All that’s left is to make it yours. Kristy and Olive help you add a stylish button as well as special touches that will give your bag its own personality, such as tassels, pom-poms, sparkles and more.
