Give your sewing mojo a creative boost with four dazzling mini quilts. Ready for a project that’s simple and FUN? Designer Suzy Williams shares her inspiring techniques to sew a frameable series of four mini quilts. Play with color and improvise your designs as you learn to create colorful quilts with unconventional lines, easy-to-sew curves and more. Whether you’re an experienced quilter or just starting out, Suzy’s approach to working with fabric will leave you feeling refreshed, renewed and ready to create!
Making the Mojo Minis
Meet Suzy and begin by going over the patterns for your mini quilt series. Suzy explains what to keep in mind when choosing fabrics and how much fun it is to customize each quilt! But don’t worry, you can also make the quilts as shown using the included pattern.
Unconventional Lines
Sketch, cut and sew your first quilt as you learn to combine fabric strips for a linear composition. Suzy shows you two ways to cut strips, and how to save time with chain piecing. Afterwards, see how other makers from around the world, and folks from Craftsy, interpret the same design.
Composition
Move on to your second quilt: an improvised log cabin that builds from the center out. Discover Suzy’s secrets for creating a balanced composition, and how negative space changes the whole look of the quilt. Then get inspired by other makers’ mini creations!
Rhythm
Curves aren’t scary when you’re working on a mini! Here, Suzy shows you how to make a pleasing design that comes together quickly with a glue stick and scraps from the first quilt. Then meet some makers who dance to the beat of their own Rhythm Mini dance.
Unity
Round out your quilt series with another curved quilt. Find out how to use raw-edge appliqué to easily achieve beautiful curves. After that, see how other makers tackle the project.
Quilting the Mojo Minis
It’s time to stand back and admire your work! In this final lesson, consider how to quilt each piece to unify your mini series. Watch as Suzy demonstrates basting the layers, along with hand- and machine-quilting basics. Plus, she shows you how to frame your quilts so you can proudly show them off.
