Textile Silkscreen Printing with Stencil
Create unique garments by printing your own designs by hand
The fusion of artistic synergies is becoming more and more widespread and encourages the creation of projects as interesting as Festela Store, a clothing brand involved in the slow-fashion movement founded by Mireia and Merce, a graphic designer and a fashion designer. Both decided to pursue the idea of creating unique and timeless textile pieces full of handcrafted prints and patterns.
In this course, they teach you the technique they use to create their prints manually. Learn to carry out the entire process of printing a garment, from creating a mood board to experimenting with random objects, in order to craft prints and later capture them with a stencil and a silkscreen on a textile garment.
Mireia and Merce talk about each of their backgrounds and how they got started with the Festela brand. They show you pieces that they have created, tell you about their influences, and provide a long list of pages to inspire you.
Learn how to print with a silkscreen, photolith film, and homemade acetates, with a focus on the stencil technique, which is the easiest way to print: with just a silkscreen you can create an infinite number of prints.
Practice the creative process when carrying out your projects. Start by creating your own world through a mood board with references, ideas, and color ranges with which you can start to create.
Move on to selecting the necessary materials to create the design of your prints on paper from random objects. Mireia and Merce show you examples and encourage you to experiment with everyday objects. Create shapes, spots, drawings, compositions…unleash your creativity!
