Begin the course by getting to know artist and illustrator Sarah Walsh. She talks through the creative career that has led her to work with renowned publishers, along with the influences that inspire the work she creates.
Dive into the materials needed for the course, from paints to sketchbooks. Then create a mood board filled with inspiration, and experiment with different techniques for working with your chosen materials. Explore color theory and try different combinations in your sketchbook before creating initial sketches of all your elements.
Take your favorite sketches and turn them into thumbnails for your final composition. Choose the colors for your finished piece, applying the concepts from earlier in the course, then transfer your illustration onto paper ready for painting.
Put the finishing touches to your work using the digital tools of Procreate. To finish the course, Sarah shares her advice for sharing your work on social media, including editing your photos and writing captions.
