An introduction to the alternative energy systems and their uses. This educational course was designed to provide the students who are interested in the field of energy and the students of engineering, technology and science. The course explained the meaning of energy and its units with exercises about energy conversion. Then, the principles of the solar energy, the design and the calculation of the thermal solar collector illustrated. Next, the course discussed the wind and the hydro power principles with exercises. After that, the introduction of photovoltaic energy, its principles, types, design, and its integration with the electricity grid were demonstrated. Finally, we introduced the principles of fuel cells and the alternative energy storage systems.
