This course aims to ensure that all participants recognize possible deliberate events with chemical or biological agents and know the different response types this will require compared to other emergencies.

This course targets WHO staff and emergency responders in various sectors in member states who may find themselves responding to a deliberate event. It is the first part of a more extensive training program on deliberate events involving chemical and biological hazards.

This course targets WHO staff and emergency responders in various sectors in member states who may find themselves responding to a deliberate event. This includes (Public) health workers active on the scene, the staff in emergency health facilities, police, fire brigade, dispatch officers, secondary responders, and forensic experts. This awareness course may also be helpful for policymakers and regulators dealing with preparedness and response to bioterrorism.

The main aim of this course is to ensure that all participants can recognize possible CB deliberate events and are aware of the different response types this will require compared to regular emergencies.

Course contents

Introduction to the Course:
This introduction provides the scope and purpose of the course.

Module 1- Deliberate Events:
This training module aims to raise participant awareness about deliberate events involving chemical and biological hazards.

Module 2- An Introduction to WHO Biosecurity and Health Security Protection (BSP):
The aim of this training module is to raise participant awareness about the World Health Organization (WHO) BioSecurity and Health Security Protection (BSP).

Module 3- Overview of CB-related Health Effects :
The aim of this training module is to develop participants’ awareness of the features and effects of chemical or biological (CB) health hazards related to deliberate events (DE).

Module 4- Assessing and Managing Health Risks of CBDE :
The aim of this training module is to develop participants’ understanding about the principles of the risk assessment and management as related to Chemical or Biological (CB) Deliberate Events (DE).

Module 5- CB Safety Measures:
The aim of this training module is to develop participants’ awareness of safety considerations in relation to Chemical or Biological (CB) deliberate events (DE).

This final section contains some optional, playful quizzes, where you can test your knowledge on this course topic. These tests do not influence your course score
