January: Hourglass & Border No. 1
Improve your accuracy, speed and skill as you work through the creation of the center of your quilt: a beautiful, traditional hourglass section. Lynette shares valuable piecing and pressing tips as you finish your hourglass units and add a striking border.
February: Dogtooth, Border No. 2 & Stars
Try your hand at an efficient, fun way to create flying geese units as you create a striking dogtooth border and Ohio star units that will add a gorgeous pop of red to your quilts.
March: Modified Pinwheels
You’ve probably never tried pinwheels like these before! Lynette walks you through the creation of beautiful modified pinwheel units that provide a great quilting challenge and add a whole new look to your design repertoire.
April: Appliquéd Border
Whether you’re new to appliqué or have been a fan for years, you’ll likely pick up some tried and true techniques with Lynette’s instruction. Learn how to cut, press and fold pliable bias strips for the flowers’ stems before trying your hand at fusible web for the berries and flowers.
May: Modified Piano Keys
Traditional piano keys are rectangular units, but Lynette shows you how to add a fun variation to your quilt by adapting flying geese into a multicolored modified piano key unit. This border provides the perfect exercise to play with color and value as you practice sewing evenly to create long, perfectly sized borders.
June: Outer Borders & Finishing
Wrap up the class by learning how add the two final borders on your quilt, and weigh the pros and cons of which battings and backings to use. Lynette also offers helpful finishing tips that quilters of all skills will love, including both hand and machine quilting design ideas.
