  • blending the sounds together to help you read and write new words.
  • learn how to form and write the letters down during the course of the lesson.

This course was designed as a beginning course for individuals who want to improve the reading, grammar and vocabulary skills through the Systematic teaching of phonics, also as a way to increase the student’s reading fluency.

Learning the letter sounds:  the first group of phonics ( s – a – t – i – p – n).

Learning letter formation:  learning how to form and write the letters down during the course of the lesson.

Blending:  blending the sounds together to help you read and write new words.

Segmenting:  Identifying the phonic components that make the word sound the way it does.

Tricky words: These are words with irregular parts, such as ‘who’ and ‘I’. Children learn these as exceptions to the rules of phonics.

Alongside these skills students are also introduced to the main alternative spelling of vowels. These five skills form the foundation that students build on with each year of grammar teaching.

“The systematic teaching of spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary is evident in the students daily writing. They are able to  use parts of grammar in their reading and writing.”

This course is also a guide for ESL teachers working in multilingual environments that use Jolly phonics.

Hope you enjoy the course, thank you.
