What you’ll learn
- Arabic as a Second Language
This course includes information on history, culture, and language. In this course, the student will learn the Arabic Alphabet: sound and shape, going through them in groups based on their contour/shape within words. The student will recognize and read the Long and Short vowels and recognize the syllables and relate changes some short vowels cause. The student will gain significant facts and peculiarities about the Arabic Alphabet. Will come across pronunciation and spelling-related issues, get acquainted with the sound system and gain confidence to introduce oneself in simple phrases and sentences.
Mapping this course will be as follow:
Lesson 1: Basic Facts and Arabic Vowels.
Lesson 2: Groups 1-2 (B T Th N Y) and (J H Kh)
Lesson 3: Groups 3-4 (D Dh R Z) and ( S Sh Š). And facts about Long Vowels.
Lesson 4: Groups 5-6 ( T Th ) and (‘A Gh). As well, the concept of heavy and light letters.
Lesson 5: Groups 7-8 (F Q) and ( K L). And two extra short vowels: Sukoon and Shaddah.
Lesson 6: Group 9 ( M H). Also, the concept of Definite and Indefinite, Feminite and Masculine, and the exceptional shape of “A.”
Lesson 7: Review and learning some introductory sentences (introducing oneself) and Learn ‘Arabizi.
Except for Lesson 1 and Lesson 7, each lesson of this package is 39-40 minutes long.
At the end of this course, the student will be comfortable carrying on with textbooks of the Beginner level.
