Arabic for Church: Pronounce is a course designed to help anyone who is interested in learning classical Arabic in the context of Church. The syllabus was designed by Lina Flowers, a native-speaker of Arabic, an English teacher and a Professional Development Trainer with a vast experience in curriculum design and writing training materials. Learners at all levels will have ample opportunity to practice, self-assess and reflect.

In Arabic for Church: Pronounce, learners will learn to pronounce Arabic letters and diacritics. The course starts by introducing consonant sounds that have English counterparts and gradually adds sounds that are less familiar to English speakers. The course clarifies the places and manners of articulation for each of the consonant sounds learnt and how that relates to the appropriate vowel sounds used with them. The course uses the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) to demonstrate changes among and relationships between elements of speech. In order to understand the relationships between sounds within a word, learners will learn Arabic letters, each in their three forms: initial, medial and final. The course uses extracts from a variety of sources; the Bible, prayer books and hymnals, selecting authentic texts that best achieve course objectives.

Arabic for Church: Pronounce consists of 16 sections, each section uses one or two words to highlight the sounds covered. As more letters and diacritics are covered, learners will build on their existing knowledge and learn to read more complex words as they proceed. In each section, learners will be able to watch a lecture, complete a practice worksheet, watch a feedback video to go over the answers to the exercises, then self-evaluate using a quiz of 10 multiple-choice questions. Part of their assignment for each section includes a learning journal for reflection.
