This course is for guitarists of any level who are looking for a way to start learning how to improvise.  Using the framework of a twelve bar blues, this course will introduce you to some of the basic concepts behind how to build a solo, how to play and improvise chord voicings behind a soloist, and how to draw harmonic material from some widely used scales.  This course consists of five sections:

-The 12 Bar Blues Form
-Blues Comping
-Blues Soloing
-The Major Pentatonic Scale
-The Minor Pentatonic Scale

Each section consists of a lesson video and downloadable PDF file to help you follow along, plus another video full of exercises that are intended to help you get the material from each lesson under your fingers and into your ears.  The exercise video for each section is also accompanied by a downloadable PDF file so that you are able to work on the exercises long after you’ve watched the video.

This course is not like other guitar courses.  The material is attainable yet fast paced, and is meant to provide you with enough material to direct your practice for quite some time.  If you’re willing to put the work in, this course will elevate your playing and give you what you need to feel confident while playing the blues.

If you’re new to the guitar and you’re interested in learning the blues, or if you’ve been playing for a while but have always been more of a chord strummer, then this course is just what you need!

Who this course is for:

  • Guitarists of any skill level who are new to improvisation and are looking for some direction.
  • Anyone who is interested in learning how to play over a blues.
