I grew up in a family real estate businesses and learned important business strategies starting from an early age. My sisters and I owned a fireworks stand for 12 years, beginning when I was in second grade. We were the first in the sate to sell 3 for 1 and prefill bags to sell at a set price. These are musts now in the fireworks business. The fireworks manufacturer in LIttle Rock begged us for years when we stopped to come work for them instead of seeking college degrees. Instead I have a BSE and METP degrees. My husband and I have owned two businesses, JASCO EnterPrizes and Ruby A Southern Tradition, and now I own Ruby Ventures which is an overarching brand that includes business consulting, business videos, legislature oversite, and more. I was also an upper elementary teacher for 20 years which allows me to able to have a business conversation that is casual, yet full of content. During that tenure, I was one of two teachers that worked with all of the Deans of the U of A to rewrite the teaching program so that students would graduate with an Master’s Degree. This led me to have the opportunity to speak at the International Reading Conference in Canada, teach college classes, and flew to several universities to share what we had learned during the process. My goal is to inform others wanting to begin in business without having to learn hard lessons that you cannot find on the internet and other people do not want you to know.
