As per my experience in medical coding and the knowledge acquired from the AAPC exam and education or monthly CEU’s. The workshop is the only standalone coding certification (Certified Professional Coder (CPC) ) in the healthcare industry.
The reason to complete this certification as a Medical Coder is that the exam tests the competencies required to perform the job. I have proven expertise in documentation review, abstract inpatient acute care encounters, coding proficiency with ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 CPT, HCPCS, Outpatient, and inpatient payment methodologies.

Expertise in assigning accurate ICD-10-CM medical codes for ICD diagnoses and CPT, HCPCS procedures performed in all settings. The CPC exam includes fill-in-the-blank and Multiple formats. Examinees must demonstrate coding ability without multiple-choice options.

  • Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology required to correctly code facility services and diagnoses.

  • Knowledge of pharmacology to include common medications; their uses and side effects.

  • Understand Guidelines.

  • Ability to identify documentation deficiencies.

  • Strong ability to integrate coding and reimbursement rule changes in a timely manner.

  • Understanding of outpatient reimbursement methodologies (OPPS) and how it differs from IPPS.
