Creation of a Streetwear Brand
Design, produce, and market your first clothing collection
Streetwear is so much more than just a fashion trend. It’s understanding a lifestyle shaped around skateboarding, surfing, and hip hop in the USA during the ’80s and ’90s, and nowadays it’s everywhere. Street artist and designer Smithe is passionate about streetwear, something that’s very evident from his 10 years as creative director of the brand Tony Delfino.
In this course, learn to create a streetwear brand from scratch, starting with a concept and working your way towards selling it online.
Start by getting to know Smithe, who tells you about his career as an art director for fashion brands as well as some of his main influences.
Look for references to define the creative direction of your brand, establish a concept and from there, choose a name and develop a logo.
Create a mood board in Adobe Illustrator to specify the style you are looking for, then choose the materials and garments of your first collection; Smithe works on the design of a T-shirt, a sweatshirt, a hoodie, patches, and stickers.
Get started on the first sketches for each of the garments. Digitize the designs with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator then apply them to a mock-up to see how it looks and fine-tune the details.
