This is not a course to make you sound more ‘academic’ or ‘formal’ – this is for realistic, daily English conversation.

My name is Louis and I am a professional English teacher from Canada. After teaching online for the past few years, I developed my own materials to help my students practice speaking. I wrote this textbook “Conversation English” for use as lesson plans during my one-to-one online English classes. Based on experience with hundreds of students, I know this method to be effective.

This course is based entirely on the ‘Conversation English’ materials. There are 20 video lectures, each corresponding to a chapter of the book. Some of the topics include everyday things like: work, education, hobbies, hometowns, and exercise. The full description of the contents can be found in this course description.

At the beginning of each lecture, we learn useful vocabulary. We will then see how to use this vocabulary in realistic, practical ways. After that, we will look at an example dialogue, which shows how two native speakers might casually discuss the topic in question. In addition to the vocabulary and sentence structures, I will also teach you three idioms in each video. Idioms are important phrases used by native speakers in order to speak more casually and expressively. To review, there will be a fill in the blanks exercise and a speaking assignment. This is the basic structure of each video in this course.

In terms of additional materials, I have provided a vocabulary list and a writing assignment for each video. You can download these materials in PDF form. Just look for the ‘resources’ tab on each lecture.

In total there are 20 lectures, which add up to more 4 hours of learning. You will learn over 200 vocabulary words, and 60 idioms. But you will not just be asked to remember these things, you will be taught how to use them fluently.
