Introduction

Meet Ashley Hough, get a brief overview of what English paper piecing is, see what some of the common pieced shapes are and learn what supplies you will need.

Cut Out Templates

Learn about the paper templates needed for English paper piecing and see how to either get them pre-cut or cut your own.

Hexagons

Ashley shows you how to baste a small hexagon shape using a hand-sewing needle and thread. You will also see how to baste a larger hexagon, again using the hand-sewing method.

Clamshell

Ashley will show how to baste a clamshell shape using a glue pen. Glue pens can be easier to use when working with rounded edges.

Diamonds

In this session you will learn how to baste a diamond shape. You will also learn what to do with the points of the diamonds, depending on whether that point will be covered by another piece in the final assembly process.

Assembly

Now that all of the pieces are basted we are ready to assemble the basted fabric pieces. You will also learn how to remove the paper templates whether they were glued or stitched in place.
