Achieving the desire to consume a food is the main objective of gastronomic photography, and in this course, Ernesto López – commercial photographer specialized in food photography – will teach you how to make it possible. From his creative workshop, Alkimia , founded in 2001, Ernesto has carried out projects for brands such as AAK, Cinépolis, Coffee Tree or Spyral. He has also taught basic and advanced photography at the Universidad Latina de América (Morelia, Mexico), which makes him the ideal teacher to show you everything you need to achieve powerful photographs.

In this course you will learn the basic techniques of gastronomic photography to get started in this delicious world and that you can start your professional project. You will see everything you need in terms of equipment, lighting, development and retouching.

You will meet Ernesto and his beginnings in photography. You will see in depth his professional career, how he began to make gastronomic photography and how he has evolved in creative techniques and processes. He will also tell you about the artists who have influenced him in his work and remain his main references today.

You will see what it is and what a photo shoot implies from conceptualization to final delivery. You will start with the planning of the project by preparing a photographic brief from a template, to determine its tone and needs.

You will immediately know the necessary equipment to make your food photo session a reality. Ernesto will explain in depth everything about the camera and the ideal lenses, the advantages of using studio flash, the operation of the lighting angles and the possibilities that light modifiers give us. Then, you will see the different elements that you can use to build your set or stage.

Before starting the session, you will learn the basics of lighting and its characteristics to create a specific style. You will see the best way to measure the quality and quantity of light ideal for your photographs and the teacher will show you the two most common types of lighting with flash in food photography: window light and chiaroscuro.
