What You Will Learn In This Free Course
Introduction
In this module, Introduction, students will get an introduction to scrum. This module will discuss why it is important to learn scrum, what this course will help you do or solve, and what you can get out of this course personally. Students will learn to use Bloom’s taxonomy, reflect on expectations, and come to understand scrum better overall.
Introduction to Scrum
In this module, Introduction to Scrum, students will learn about the reasons for agile development methods, the benefits of scrum, the six key scrum principles, and the five scrum aspects. This module will cover project management as a discipline, the specific goal that project management achieves, and the software development lifecycle management.
Initiating a Project
In this module, Initiating a Project, students will learn about initiating a project, creating the project vision, identifying the scrum master, forming the scrum team, developing epics, creating the prioritized product backlog, and release planning. By completing this module, students will understand the process involved in initiating a project.
Planning & Estimating a Project
In this module, Planning & Estimating a Project, students will learn about how to create user stories, how to approve, estimate, and commit user stories, create tasks, estimate tasks, and create a sprint backlog. Students will then learn about the scrum cycle, plan, and how to use estimates. This module then covers user story meetings and workshops, including what user stories describe and what they tell.
Implementing a Project
In this module, Implementing a Project, students will learn about how to produce deliverables, what happens in a daily standup meeting (or daily scrum), how scrum reduces technical debt and improves the agility and maintainability of code, and how impediments are identified and managed. This module will also look at the process of creating deliverables, building deliverables, refactoring, and outputs for creating deliverables.
Sprint Review and Retrospect
In this module, Sprint Review and Retrospect, students will learn about the sprint review and retrospect, convene a scrum of scrums, demonstrate and validate sprint, and retrospect sprint. This module also covers what happens in a sprint review, why to use a scrum of scrums, what happens in a sprint retrospect, and how these drive performance improvements.
Release
In this module, Release, students will learn about the difference between handing over deliverables and release, integration issues with organizational release and deployment, how to retrospect a project and recommend improvements, the concept of minimum functionality and its importance. This module will also cover the pilot plan; one of the key inputs into ship deliverables.
