Chemical reaction & equation , Acids, bases & salts  are the two  most important topics of grade 10 chemistry .This course is specially meant for high school students. Topics covered in the course are – What is a chemical reaction ,chemical reactions in daily life ,characteristics of a chemical reaction , chemical equation , how to make a chemical equation more informative ?balancing a chemical equation,  why balancing is important ? ,types of chemical reactions . All the six types of chemical reactions that is combination reaction, decomposition reaction ,displacement reaction , double displacement reaction ,redox reaction and neutralization reactions have been explained with examples. The course also includes corrosion & rancidity ,methods to retard rancidity. In this chapter balancing is the most difficult thing to understand. But its a guarantee that after completing this course anyone can balance a chemical equation of any level with ease. Overall the course is built in an easy way so that students understand all the concepts of the chapter with full clarity.

SUMMARY OF THE COURSE-

Chemical reaction is a process in which new substances with new properties are formed. Chemical equation is the method of representing a chemical reaction with the help of symbols and formulae of substances involved in the reaction. Balancing a chemical equation is important to obey law of conservation of mass. We can make a chemical equation more informative by indicating physical states, heat changes and conditions under which reaction takes place .There are 6 types of chemical reactions. These are-combination, decomposition ,displacement, double displacement, redox, & neutralization reactions.

Acids are substances which produce hydrogen ions whereas bases give hydroxide ions in solution.acids classified as strong & weak acids.conentrated acids diluted by adding concentrated acid to water in small amounts with stirring. Acids react with metals, metal carbonates, metal bicarbonates, bases & metal oxides.Bases react with some metals, acids , non metallic oxides. Indicator help to find whether given substances are acids or bases.Olfactory indicator produce odour change in acidic & basic solutions. pH scale used to find strength of acid & bases. pH used in digestion, tooth decay, plant growth, animal survival & self defence.Salts formed by neutralizationreaction.preparation & uses of sodium hydroxide, bleaching powder, baking soda, water of crystallization, washing soda & plaster of Paris.

All the concepts are explained in the clearest & most concise manner to ensure that students have the best opportunity to do their best in exams.
