JavaScript is known as the “language that powers the web” and was designed to add a level of interactivity to any web page. It is one of the most important programming languages along with HTML and CSS.

This is an introductory course to JavaScript, starting with the basics—syntax and variables—through to concepts such as conditionals, arrays, loops, and events, using a memory game which you build on step by step following the guidance of Javier Usobiaga, web designer and founder of Swwweet studio with more than a decade’s experience in the field.

Get to know Javier a little better. He talks about his work and biggest influences in the world of design and web development.

Gain a better understanding of JavaScript—what it’s used for and why it’s one of the foundational web programming languages, alongside HTML and CSS. Learn to configure your code editor to work more comfortably, then see how to incorporate JavaScript into a web page.

Your first contact with JavaScript involves variables, functions, events, and loops, which you learn to write along with other basic complementary JavaScript features.

From here, begin the design of your memory game, starting with the array, or list of values, to represent the pack of cards for your game.
