Hello!
My name is Rose and I’m a music tutor and performer. When life gets tough I always find singing is what helps me feel grounded and calmer and so I have created this course to share a bit of my practice with you.
My hope is that it will inspire you to find and develop your voice because your voice is unique and I want you to feel more connected to it.
In this course we will largely be working with a drone, in the form of a Shruti box which sounds a lot like an accordion/melodeon/squeeze box. I will pump it to create the drone and together we will have a go at singing with it.
There is no requirement to read music, no words to memorise, we are simply learning from each other, developing our musical ear by listening and imitating.
All in all, together we will:
Look at posture and how this can affect the voice
Learn some quick and easy warm ups that will benefit your body and mind
Develop your ear to copy a single pitch or a phrase – this may largely occur with repetition, and that’s okay!
Develop strength and trust with your voice, use it as your instrument to ground you
I hope this course leaves you feeling empowered…and mellow!
