This course is designed for guitarists who are looking to advance their already considerable grasp on music theory.  Students should already have an awareness of things like the modes of the major scale and four note chord qualities.  If you’re not sure if this course is for you, consider looking into my “Intermediate Music Theory for Guitarists” course.

This course consists of four separate lessons:
-Symmetrical Scales
-Modes of the Melodic Minor Scale
-Modes of the Harmonic Minor Scale
-Chord Substitutions

Each lesson is made up of a video that explains the subject matter and each video includes a downloadable PDF file that students can use to help them follow along with the lesson.  In addition, each lesson is accompanied by another video that provides exercises designed to ensure that you not only understand the lesson on a theoretical level, but you also have concrete ways to get the material on to your fretboard and into your ears.  Each exercise video comes with a downloadable PDF file so that you are able to work on the exercises long after the video has ended.

This course is not like other guitar courses.  This course is for students who are looking to improve their playing by putting in the work.  The pace of this course is fast, and the exercises in this course will provide you with enough material to direct your practice for quite some time before you have it mastered.

Who this course is for:

  • Advancing guitarists who are studying music theory for the purposes of improving their playing and improvising in the context of modern forms of music such as pop, blues or jazz.
