Discover intriguing intarsia techniques as you knit stop-and-stare accessories. Learn to work intarsia with multiple colors, in the round and much more!

Introduction

Meet your instructor, Anne Berk, a master knitter, designer and author of Annetarsia Knits. Learn more about intarsia and about the tools and yarn supplies you’ll need for getting started on swatching and planning your projects.

Zigzag Cowl

Jump into intarsia with Anne! She’s designed a colorful cowl that you knit flat and then join. Ann walks you through an e-wrap cast-on that makes getting started easier, then shows you how to knit each row of the pattern repeat.

Tips & Tricks

Learn more about managing your tension and tangles as you finish up your cowl with a three-needle bind-off and bury the tails. Once you’ve blocked your cowl to smooth out your stitches, your fashionable accessory is ready to wear!

Intarsia in the Round

With a flat cowl under your belt (or around your neck), you’re ready to tackle intarsia in the round! Cast on some fun fingerless mitts with a tartan pattern. Anne shows how to determine gauge, set up your yarn supplies and get started on the ribbed cuff. You’ll start adding colors and setting up the thumb along with Anne.

Thumb & Finishing

Learn how to finish up the intarsia pattern on your mitts and complete the thumb. Anne also shows some alternate designs for your mitts.

The Diamond Hat

Anne’s Diamond Hat is a colorful project that highlights your intarsia skills! Anne shows how to read the intarsia pattern and get all of your colors started on the first row, then turn and loop your main color to purl back on the second row.

Finishing the Hat

You’ll complete your playful hat by cleaning up the tails, knitting a second set of diamonds and decreasing for the crown. Anne shows you how!

Bonus: Fixing Mistakes

As a bonus, Anne gives a quick lesson on how to use duplicate stitches to fix any minor mistakes you might have made in your colorwork. Having this technique in your toolbox will put your mind at ease!
