Staystitching
Meet Sue Hausmann, your guide to the quick, quicker and quickest ways to solve some of sewing’s most persistent problems. You know that staystitching to stabilize curved edges is important, but don’t have much time? Sue provides three options, including one — the quickest — that requires no sewing at all!
Basting
Basting by hand helps you get professional results but can slow you down. Sue shows how to set your machine for basting that comes out easily, how to pin-baste instead of stitching, and the quickest technique — basting that dissolves away!
Seams
Seams hold it all together, and you want them fast — but you want them to look right. Sue shows you how to stitch seams without pinning at all, and how to seam and overcast or use your serger for fast, strong, never-fail seams.
Darts & Ease
Darts provide shape to garments so that they fit correctly. Sail through stitching darts that look great, with Sue’s guidance. Watch as Sue speeds things up by marking stitching lines and serging darts. You’ll even learn ways to use ease in lieu of a dart!
Facings
Sue brings out her grandma’s apron to prove that she didn’t come up with the quickest way to finish an edge, even if she does have a great tip for a cool look on vintage clothing. Learn how to add a cut-on facing to your pattern, replace facings with binding, and Sue’s favorite fast “trim turn” finishing method.
Waistbands
Sue is back with three ways to stitch a speedy waistband, including expert elastic waists that look smooth and trim. Then watch as she creates a gathered-waist skirt using her smart casing hem-fold technique.
Zippers
Don’t let zippers stop you from sewing in record time. Sue runs through three techniques: center-lapped option, an invisible zipper insertion, and quickest of all, using a piping foot for accurate, speedy and perfectly placed zips.
