Sight reading may seem unnecessary to some and not needed but as a true well defined musician its just another stepping stone to success. Sight reading allows to succeed as a musician convey your ideas and understand others ideas in a moments notice. Also after practicing sight reading of other genres you will have broadened your abilities and your creative ability and possibly found a new fondness of a certain style of music that you may have never given a chance, so don’t short change yourself to just one idea or style. Typically as we get older our preferances change anyways you’ll be surprised at the amount of music you will enjoy as you mature as a musician.
