What you’ll learn

  • Learn character model sheet making with Photoshop
  • Make model sheet for 2D, 3D games, animation or movie projects
  • Add secondary nature shorthands to your workflow
  • Design your own effective pipeline of work, save your time

This is what was i needed all along. The way i wanted to be taught. Now i am sharing it with you. I care about my time, my art, my life, my work. Nothing is that hard, you just can have a better understanding and working system just by giving the chance to work and time of yours. Doesn’t matter that if you have characters to work with that is famous already or your own original characters. In this course i will be showing you how to make a model sheet from a character that i have designed. You can apply these methods to any character created by anyone. And all these methods are applicable to your workflow.

– Part – I – Front View

Neutral Pose – T Pose – Making our own reference

We should already have a character designed to make a model sheet of. We are using the ‘Warrior King Frog’ that designed on the Ultimate Character Creator Course.

You can use your own characters or characters from the internet. Completely up to your needs & liking. We are basicly making a baseline to refer later to our other designs.

This step is first and important but nail this as right as possible then the rest of the work will be much easier to handle.

Open up your reference in PS(as i did in the tutorial) or in Pure Ref while using another monitor, start measuring, scaling, use your eyes, brain and do not limit yourself

to help yourself at this point.

– Part – II – Side View

  Turning around!

This is also a part of questioning our minds. How would the volumes of the character look like from the sideview ? Don’t just guess, use the knowledge you see and turn

them around to your needs. Baselines and guidance that has been given from the designed character will help you. Let’s turn our character like in a 3D program in our minds.

– Part – III – Back View

Time for a 180 turn but using the smarter ways.

Smart working beats hard working so as we keep thinking what would make our lifes, jobs easier helps us greatly. We use flipping the drawing and cleaning, fixing correctly

and you see we got ourselves saved a ton of time.

– Part – IV – Color & Finalize

An active brain while working turns us to be a proactive artist. So we can be faster, better at our craft by saving time and being smart working.

We are being smart by making a way of coloring in a very modular way. So we can fix easily and fastly the future arrangements. Base your silhouette first.

Clip the next layers upon it and keep doing it in order and keep them all in the same file. Even when the work is finished it is easier to go back and fix for the future arrangements.

– Part – V – Quarter View

Now we are making a 3/4 view. We are basicly sculpting the character as in 3D but in 2D. Let’s provide our colleagues a view that they can use for 2D/3D animation, sculpt, reference for the co – working artists. Explore, draw, explore, draw, keep fixing smartly for the best result you could achieve.

If you repeat this cycle of work it will become a second nature to your workflow and you will get even better.

Never turn off your brain while working. Keep thinking & answering yourself while working.
