Squares & Rectangles

Folded-Corner Triangles

Half-Square Triangles

Think you can’t use a 2.5-inch strip for a 2-inch half-square triangle? That’s because you haven’t seen Barb’s special method yet! Tackle this must-have, before taking a look at quick and easy block designs in which you can use your HSTs. The lesson ends with a fun maple leaf design!

Curves

When it comes to curves, Barb sets things straight. First, conquer two ways of accurately cutting curved pieces using freezer paper and template plastic. Then, build your confidence sewing curves with Barb’s pointers on pinning. The lesson ends with a pinwheel block and apple core block that both call for 2.5-inch strips!

Appliqué

Those 2.5-inch strips are perfect for appliqué too. Barb shows you why, using back-basting appliqué to create a classic flower design. Plus, use what you’ve learned to take your nine-patch and turn it into a honeybee block.
