Typography Animation with After Effects
Discover creative techniques with motion design and bring animated typefaces to life with unique visuals
After Effects is a powerful tool that allows us to create captivating texts that come to life, typefaces brimming with originality and style, and digital designs that capture a brand’s essence. Alongside motion graphics designer Érico Santana, whose client list includes major brands like Heineken, Banco Itaú, and Comic-Con Experience, learn how to do all that and more while exploring the world of typography animation.
In this course, learn how to animate a phrase in Adobe After Effects using fonts and creative motion design techniques. Discover how to give your texts personality and captivate your audience with unique, professional designs.
Begin by meeting your teacher, Érico Santana. Hear about his artistic and professional influences, and get an overview of the final project.
In the next unit, cover the main typography animation techniques in After Effects. Learn key concepts to design motion graphics for typefaces and explore animation techniques like Text on a Path, Text Animators, CC Cylinder, Shape Layer, and Glitch effects.
Now it’s time to put everything you’ve learned into practice by creating an animated typography video. First, choose a phrase and make an animated composition using Text Animators. Then, experiment with Glitch effects, simulate a 3D environment, and combine different techniques to create RGB Liquid text.
To tie it all together, edit your design into a final, animated composition. Érico gives you some post-production tips on how to add texture and add the final touches to your animation before bringing it to life. He also shows you how to correctly export your file in two different formats so you can share your work with the world.
