Watercolor Magic: Creating Absctact Landscapes

In this class, discover a new simple approach for creating abstract watercolor landscapes, by using a limited color palette of just a few colors and some watercolor magic! You’ll see that even such an unpredictable medium as watercolor can be manipulated in the directions you need.

You will learn:

• the fastest and easiest way to prepare watercolors

• create landscapes using only two colors

• manipulate the watercolors around the canvas

• find the balance between manipulating watercolors and letting them react

At the end of this class, you’ll be able to create gorgeous abstract watercolor landscapes using just a few colors. It’s a perfect opportunity for you to learn a new exciting way to work with watercolors or to simply have fun creating landscape paintings.

Tools and materials to use in this class:

• watercolor paper 200 gsm — 4 pieces of 15×20 cm

• 4 watercolors: blue. green, yellow, red

• a few reservoirs of water

• one big (~ #35) and one small brush (~ #8)

• flat surface

The project for this class is an abstract watercolor landscape. Using the various combinations of only a few colors and the unique technique of manipulating watercolors, create four abstract landscapes. Share your process, both practicing and drawing results.
