This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to create textured mountains with a painting knife using the wet-on-wet technique in oil painting, without the use of solvents during the process. Solvents are optional and used only to clean the brush in a well ventilated area after the painting is completed. You will also learn how to clean, condition and store your painting tools in this course. You will learn how to easily load a simple palette, a painting knife and a brush, to obtain desired results as well as how to create special effects with them. I will demonstrate how to prepare a canvas with liquid white to be able to paint in the wet-on-wet technique, blending colour directly on a canvas to create a simple soothing background for your mountains. You will be lead in a step-by-step manner from the beginning stages to a completed oil painting, while learning fun painting knife techniques to create a multidimensional mountain range, through the use of light and shadow. The different activities in this course will allow you to become familiar with the angles in which you will learn to hold the knife as well as the amount of pressure used to highlight and lowlight, allowing oil paint to roll off the edge of the blade as you guide it down the mountain.
