In this course we discuss the key concepts and controversies in the design and implementation of strategic reward systems. We start with a brief overview of the relationship between the external environment, business strategy, HRM strategy and systems of reward management.  This leads to a conversation about the conceptual frameworks, theoretical debates and research informing management practice relative to both relational and transactional rewards.  Then we explore the issues of internal and external reward equity in a range of contexts and structure reward responses to address the strategic requirements facing an organization. 

This course serves to examine a range of reward-related factors that affect achievement of organizational success.
