Spray Dyes

Meet Judith and begin class by exploring Dylusion spray dyes. First, Judith guides you through the inner workings of using spray dyes. Then she shows you how to keep track of your work by creating a sampler that you can refer back to.

Stencils

After learning about spray dyes, look at different stenciling techniques. You’ll see how to create balanced pages with your own custom stencils, and use layering to make your pages even more captivating.

Splash, Bloom & Bubble: India Inks

India ink is usually applied with a dip pen or brush, but there are so many other ways that you can use it! In this lesson, take control of this fun media by learning how it interacts with other materials on your pages. Plus, discover an especially playful approach to creating a portrait with bubbles.

Finding Freedom With Watercolor, Gouache & Acrylic

Dive into familiar mediums such as watercolor, gouache and acrylic as Judith shows you how to use them in a completely abstract way! She also revisits the classic watercolor techniques: wash, charge and glaze, using unconventional tools. Afterwards, apply your new skills as you create whimsical clouds and a delicate lotus flower.

Creating Meaning With Text, Layers & Metaphors

Turn your attention to text as you learn to incorporate the written word in new ways, from cut-out letters to vignettes that give intention. You’ll also experiment with found poetry and journal prompts to add more meaning to your words.

Working With Collage & Finishing Your Journal

Finally, use your practice pages to create collages and build beautiful, textured pages that are bursting with color. Judith even shows you how to create a personalized journal cover that speaks to what’s inside.
