What you’ll learn
- Clear, concise, active, and solutions-oriented communication
- Narrative structure as a framework for discussing strategy
- Situation – Complication – Resolution structure
- Principles of problem solving
The objective of this class is to provide you with a framework for integrating your analytical and communication skills in order to give your analytical insights the best chance of being heard … and acted upon. This course will show you how to apply the Situation-Complication-Resolution … or “Narrative” framework to organize the communication of your strategic analysis to achieve maximum impact.
This course aims to integrate skills that you already possess. It is intended for business professionals who already understand the basics of strategy. We won’t be going over basic strategy tools and frameworks — though in Part 2 of the course, I’ll share some advanced tools for helping you structure the kind of abstract, ambiguous, or conceptual that you’re likely to face as your career progresses.
This course is also intended for professionals who already have basic mastery of business communications. We won’t be going over anything to do with the mechanics of language or the elements of style. Instead, I designed this course to help knowledgeable, experienced professionals make more meaningful contributions to their team, their organization, and the world through superior communication of analytical insights.
The course is divided in three parts. Each part has three content videos and exercises. Content videos are generally in the 10-15 minute range and are designed to convey one or two key ideas to help you communicate strategy. They also describe an exercise designed to help you practice putting the key ideas into place. You’ll download the exercise and complete it at your leisure, before returning to the course to watch the next video.
Who this course is for:
- Early career professionals eager to learn how to communicate more effectively with senior managers
- Anyone wishing to increase the impact of their analysis through clear, concise communication
