Selection Tools

Meet your instructor, Bret Malley, and begin your journey to seamless composites. First, you’ll master selections by learning how and when to use your tools, from Quick Selection to Magic Wand and more. Then, fine-tune your selections with the Refine Edge tool.

Mask & Heal

Once you know the secrets to perfect selections, you’re ready to unlock the true power of Photoshop masks. You’ll learn to create and paint in masks to reveal exactly what you want, and nothing you don’t. Then, use the same principles to retouch images non-destructively.

Adjustment Layers

The next step to creating seamless composites is learning to work with adjustment layers. By clipping your curves, color, hue and saturation adjustments to specific layers, you’ll gain complete creative control over each element of your image and make them fit together flawlessly.

Finishing Adjustments

A critical part of creating realistic composites is making finishing adjustments. In this lesson, Bret will explain how to use these adjustments, from dodging and burning to vignettes and color, to unite your images and take them to the next level.

Shooting Composites

It’s time to take everything you’ve learned and set yourself up for a successful shoot. First, Bret will walk you through creating a simple game plan. You’ll see how consistent lighting and point of view can save you hours in editing, and even get tips for working with models.

Building Composites

In the final lesson, you’ll work alongside Bret to unite all the pieces of a fun and surreal composite project. Learn how to fine-tune selections, alter lighting and make finishing adjustments. Then, try making your own; all the files you need are in your class materials.
