About This Class

In this class, Continuous Line Floral Layout with Watercolour in Procreate, I continue with my Procreate skills instruction, delving deeply into the world of simple continuous line art. The continuous line is sometimes called contour drawing, and in this class, we try to shed our impulses to perfect the flowers we are creating. I want you to be free to work loosely and intuitively. We try several different techniques with the hope of finding the one that is perfect for you.

Once we master the line art, we will switch to creating the loose watercolour that adds color, also done in a spontaneous way. I show you the use of different brushes which I also supply in the class resources section.

With a complete illustration, I show you how to adapt it for use as a greeting card, and I even take you through the process of creating a mock-up (also supplied).

In this class I’ll walk you through:

  • my step-by-step method for using the supplied assets

  • tips for creating compositions for a really varied and appealing design

  • my workflow for use of layers and other great features like snapping

  • adjusting to perfect the flow and adding elements like text and colors to enhance the design

  • watercolour background creation

  • methods for keeping the art fully editable for later adjustments and recoloring

If you’re an aspiring designer with a basic knowledge of Procreate, you’ll be able to go through all the steps. This class will benefit anyone who wishes to simplify creation of greeting card or wall art and improve efficiency and proficiency. By the end of the class, you will have an artwork suitable for upload to a POD site.

The key concepts I will include:

· review of my brush alterations and adjustments

· a look at Procreate brushes and their various idiosyncrasies

· approaches you can take in your creative work

This is an ideal class for you, even if you are not sure what you will use the pattern for, whether it be for greeting card design or for sites like Society6 or Red Bubble, scrapbooking paper, custom graphics, or whatever! Learning new Procreate workflows is always desirable. I guarantee you will create something really appealing, and it’s so much fun, once you get the hang of it!

Project Description

Take the time to check out the work of Marilou Cadiz Marshall. For your project, try a loose floral while just looking at a flower and then try one with the tracing technique I showed you. Reviews:

LeAnne T – This class exceeded my expectations! I recommend it for Beginner Levels.

Delores classes always resonate with the sort of art activity I would enjoy. This topic was one I had always meant to check out. It’s forgiving, and not stressful on one who cannot cope with refined drawing and painting, hence gravitate to the alternate elegance of loose watercolour. Great tips and sweet brushes to boot. Thank you for a lovely class.

Paula Scott Beltgens – This class exceeded my expectations! I recommend it for All Levels.

I really loved this class and learned a lot about doing water colour-like painting on Procreate. I also really appreciate how Delores throws in a lot of extra tips and information generally. Super helpful! Thanks for a fellow Canadian!

Who this course is for:

  • This class is for Procreate users looking for a simple watercolour techniques lesson, complete with brushes and water-colour papers document.
