  • Solar Energy and Solar Radiation

In this module, you will be introduced to the capacity of solar energy to satisfy worldwide energy needs. This will include the calculation of how much energy is coming from the sun. Then, you will learn about solar radiation as the main source of renewable energy for the world. Next, you will learn about the phenomena related to the absorption of solar energy and the importance of maintaining a delicate balance of CO2 in the atmosphere and the impact on the intensity of solar energy received.

The Main Source of Clean Energy

In this module, you will be introduced to the electromagnetic spectrum, the distribution of the energy radiated by a light source. Then, you will learn about The Planck constant a physical constant that plays a central role in the theory of quantum mechanics. You will study the background radiation of the universe and its characteristics. You will be taught the ways we can harness solar energy such as thermal conversion and photovoltaic conversion.

    Solar Radiator and Semiconductors

In this module, you will be introduced to the principles of imaging concentrators and non?imaging Concentrators. This will include their orientation through the seasons. You will learn how to track the sun and harness solar energy effectively. Then, you will study the process of capturing solar energy using the photovoltaic approach and how the Fermi energy is integrated into the energy level of the electrons. Finally, you will learn about the intrinsic semiconductor.

    Solar Energy – First Assessment

This module presents the assessment for the first two modules of the Certificate Course: Solar Energy.; Module

    Solar Cell

In this module, you will be introduced to the characteristics on the p-n junction. This will include what happens when both materials are charged neutral. You will learn the techniques and the method to manufacture the p-n junction. Then, you will learn the purification of the single silicon crystal produced, its cutting process and the different applications. You will finish this module by learning how the p-n junction responds to the arrival of radiation.

    Solar Energy and Photocatalysis

In this module, you will be introduced to the orientation of the solar cell related to the orientation with the band diagram. This will include the definition and functions of the depletion layer. Then, you will learn the basic behaviour of the charge carriers inside the semiconductors and the efficiency aspects of a solar cell. You will study the solar photocatalysis and compare it with solar thermal and the solar photovoltaic processes.

    Solar Energy – Second Assessment

This module presents the assessment for the last three modules of the Certificate Course: Solar Energy.; Module
