Editing of Photo Books and Visual Storytelling
Learn how to tell stories through photo books step by step
A photo book is not a family photo album or a photography book. In addition to photographs, it has a visual narrative that seeks to tell a story to the public through images. Together, the structure, the design, and the photographs evoke a feeling intended by the photographer and editor, resulting in a work of art.
Photographer and photo book editor Musuk Nolte is a benchmark in the world of photo books. Through his publishing house, KWY, he has edited more than 15 publications by Rodrigo Abd, Antoine d’Agata, Billy Hare, and Juanita Escobar. In this online course, he teaches you how to self-publish your photo book, with emphasis on the creative aspects, from conceptualization to production, together with one of the most current references in publishing and photography.
Get to know Musuk Nolte and how he got started in the world of publishing and photography, and how his interest in photo books was born. He also shares his main influences, from photography and photo books, as well as literature and music.
He then takes you through what a photo book is, all the possibilities it offers to achieve powerful visual narratives, and the importance of the story in images.
Get a brief introduction to the parts that make up a book and the different assemblies that you can achieve, and the software used to develop the edition of your photo book, such as Adobe InDesign and Bridge.
After seeing how to conceptualize and the importance of this step as a starting point to approach your project, edit the images and define a structure.
