The painter Gustavo Velasco works with abstract images that seek to generate an impact through composition, lines and experimentation with materials.

Along with the analysis of the different textures and intensity of the colors, Gustavo studies features and gestures in detail to better convey emotions. In this online course, he will teach you how to create a gestural portrait that reflects your personality in every creative decision.

Gustavo Velasco will begin by sharing his journey through art, from the spray, through drawing and academic painting, to gestural painting. In addition, he will tell you about his most important influences.

Immediately you will know the materials that you will use during the course, you will prepare your paper and you will see how to apply the paint in different ways. You will analyze the lights and shadows in an object and you will discover what the tonal values are.

Later, you will study the portrait knowing the planes of the head and each facial feature. You will delve into the anatomy of the skull, eye, nose, mouth, and ear.

In the last unit, you will explore the composition through blots of Indian ink, you will make your first strokes and start your portrait. You will only have to add the final touches emphasizing the areas you want to highlight.
