Class Preview
Knitting cables can feel mighty intimidating, especially for newbie knitters. But fear not! Designer Norah Gaughan walks you through the basics in this beginner’s class. You’ll learn how to knit reversible cables that look beautiful on both sides, and use the same pattern to make a stylish scarf and cowl.
Getting Started
Norah begins with a brief overview of reversible cables and their special features. Then get started by casting on and setting up your ribbing.
Cable Specifics
Learn how to read the cable chart (included in the class materials) and decipher the key. Plus, get the lowdown on cable needles and why they matter!
Scarf Pattern
Once you can read the cable chart, it’s time to get knitting! Norah talks through yarn choices, smart edgings, joining new yarn and weaving in ends.
Cowl Pattern
Get started on the cabled cowl as you learn to create a wider fabric with two chart repeats. After that, Norah shows you how to graft cowl ends together to create a beautiful loop.
Finishing Up
Norah walks you through blocking to wrap up class (and your projects!). You’ll see how both projects come together.
Knit Cabled Hat
