I have been a professional artist for a number of years, and in that time I have learnt that some simplistic techniques are beneficial to your drawing and painting, in order that you may be more successful in the creation of your art.

Drawing is an important initial means by which we start on a journey of creating art, without first mastering the significance of drawing we cannot completely fulfill our potential as an artist.

The purpose of this course is to show students the basic drawing skills that you will need to create your own art. The course will start with fundamentals like how to hold a pencil correctly, what pencils to use, how to draw and loosen up, how to create shade.

Students will be shown how to draw basic shapes to break down more complex subjects (still life depictions). Students will be shown how to draw in perspective, a fundamental to drawings that look right.

The course will include  understanding the drawing of the shape of the human head using a method that students can apply to all portraits of the head.

I will cover the figure and how it should be simplified, from rectangular shapes.Students will be shown how to place the figure correctly in the landscape. I will show students how to draw landscapes, an important tool to enable all drawings to have both interest and accuracy. I will also show students how to draw buildings in the landscape correctly.

I will provide downloads of all drawings and methods shown in the course as well as a download of the materials recommended, along with a download of a simple method of copying drawings to get you started on your way.

Following this course will, I believe, will enable students to begin their journey of becoming and artist in their own right. The course is for anyone from a complete beginner to someone wanting to improve their skills.
