Continue your artistic journey and master the basics of acrylic stain painting! In this class, the follow-up to “Startup Library: Painting with Acrylic,” artist Michele Théberge walks you through more advanced layering techniques using new mediums including fluid, gel and more. First you’ll practice on a series of small canvases, then apply your new skills to create an abstract piece.
Applying Fluid Color
Meet Michele and begin with an introduction to stain painting. Then go over the materials you’ll need to get started, including canvas, paint and brushes, and practice using a flow aid to paint wet-into-wet.
Color Layering & Mixing
Next, Michele covers color mixing and layering techniques. Find out how to create secondaries and neutralized colors so you can get the most variety out of your paint.
More Layering Techniques
Explore some more painting techniques, including wet-on-dry, dry brush, lifting and lightening.
Fluid Mediums
Turn your attention to fluid mediums. Michele explains what they are and how they work as you practice using gloss and matte mediums.
